Hi, my name is Alison Shannon and I lead the team here at Transcription Online.

We offer quality transcription services and can work with you no matter where in the world you are located.  In fact our New Zealand time zone means we are often working while the rest of the world sleeps, so we are well placed to meet your pressing deadlines.

How did I wind up doing this?

Working in law firms predominantly based in metropolitan Auckland, New Zealand, has provided several years experience working under pressure to meet deadlines and delivering a high standard of work.

But to start at the beginning, after leaving school I undertook a 1-year secretarial course at Waikato Technical Institute, Hamilton, where I excelled at shorthand and typing and attained some of the highest speeds in my class.

My first job, at age 18, was with Gilchrist, Burns  Johnston, a small law firm in Te Aroha.  After 4 years I then moved to Auckland to study music at the University of Auckland and completed a performance degree in organ and harpsichord graduating with Honours.  I also studied History, English and Maori Studies.  While I was studying I was able to put my law office experience to good use with part time and temporary work built around my university studies.

After completing my degree I returned to the workforce fulltime for law firms in Auckland with music once again becoming a "hobby". Click here to view qualifications.

My Interests

Since 2004 I have been living at the beach resort of Whangamata in the scenic Coromandel region, and enjoy the lifestyle this area has to offer.  The area is a popular tourist destination due to its lovely scenery comprising rugged mountain ranges, native bush and beautiful beaches.   Click here to view photos.  As well as enjoying the bush and beach walks my interests include music, swimming, cooking, and travel.
